March 19th, 2020
Dear Families,
Thank you all for your continued support in this uncertain time. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we transition to remote online learning.
Beginning Monday, March 23, 2020, all students will begin Remote Learning. This means that students must log on to Google Classroom and be available and engaged with online learning. All children should attend Remote Learning sessions daily. Your child will be assigned a GMail account from the school so they will be able to access the remote learning on Google Classroom. Their account name will include parts of their name and end with @ps205clarion.org. The password for this Gmail account will be the child’s OSIS number. You will also be getting more information on Google Classroom within the next few days.
While many things are still not confirmed, we wanted to reach out and share some information that we do have. We, your child’s teacher(s) are hard at work getting lessons ready to begin on Monday. Each teacher may set up a schedule for their Daily Routines. We are including some information below. Please continue to be patient as we make this transition, and understand we are doing everything in our power to keep your child learning and growing throughout this year.
All children will be expected to attend remote learning daily. Teachers will be tracking attendance on an ongoing basis. Many families have more than one school age child who will need access to devices for remote learning. Taking this into consideration, we as a school community will be flexible as to when your child will be able to log in. All assignments and lessons will be saved in the daily assignments to be retrieved as needed.
Again, thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you all online, March 23rd.

- The expectation is that we will provide a few hours of instruction & follow up activities daily. However, we know not all students will work at the same pace or learn in the same way. This is evident in our classrooms and at home! If a child is becoming frustrated with the work assigned, then please make adjustments for your student/families as needed. The goal is to provide opportunities for students to keep their learning going and their skills fresh. In other words, a continuity of learning. We ask that you please communicate with us as needed.
- As a team, we think it is important for kids to have opportunities to “chunk” assignments across the day, especially as it works for each child and their family. We can't imagine any child sitting for two hours straight at this age! We don’t expect that in the classroom, so we don’t expect that at home!
- Also, we will outline minutes per subject/slide so that you can see how much time (typically) students spend on these activities. For instance, an iReady assignment does not have to be completed for the student to move on to the next part of our instruction. The lesson will save for the next time! A student should only spend 15-20 minutes on iReady. The rest will save for the next time they visit their path!
